MAT Achieves CMMI Level 3 Maturity Rating

The McLane Advanced Technologies’ Military Business Unit announced today that it has achieved the Software Engineering Institute's (SEI) Capability Maturity Model® Integration for Development (CMMI-DEV) Level 3 Appraisal rating. 

TEMPLE, TEXAS.  The McLane Advanced Technologies’ (MAT) Military Business Unit announced today that it has achieved the Software Engineering Institute's (SEI) Capability Maturity Model® Integration for Development (CMMI-DEV) Level 3 Appraisal rating.  The Standard CMMI Appraisal for Process Improvement (SCAMPI)-A Level 3 Appraisal was conducted from February 4-13, 2008 in accordance with the Software Engineering Institute’s publications Capability Maturity Model Integration for Development (CMMI-DEV), Staged Representation, Version 1.2 and in accordance with the Appraisal Requirements for the CMMI (ARC) version 1.2. 

CMMI is a process improvement approach that provides organizations with the essential elements of effective processes.  It can be used to guide process improvement across a project, a division, or an entire organization.  CMMI helps integrate traditionally separate organizational functions, set process improvement goals and priorities, provide guidance for quality processes, and provide a point of reference for appraising current processes. 

CMMI has become a standard for measuring an organization’s capability to provide a process based approach to development of software to include software engineering and project management.  Many government contracts today require a CMMI Maturity Level 3 to even bid for work.  This rating will now allow MAT to compete for larger government contracts. 

The SCAMPI team consisted of nine trained team members in accordance with the SEI requirements for conducting a Class A SCAMPI Appraisal.  The SCAMPI external SEI Authorized Lead was Dr. Richard Waina and MAT’s CMMI Project Lead and Site Coordinator was Laura Lopez.  They led a team of 8 appraisal team members representing a variety of departments and specialties.  This diversity allowed the team to look at a variety of process improvement processes from engineering to project planning.  Appraisal team members were: Robert Lindberg, Jeff Cantrell, Cathy Blurton, Mark Bourland, Jennifer Brown, Minka Barton, Troy Webster and Amy Kautzer. 

This achievement demonstrates McLane Advanced Technologies continued commitment to providing high quality software solutions and services to the military, government, commercial, education, healthcare and international marketplaces.  MAT operates three different business units:  military, government, and commercial.
